Father's Day Gift Ideas

Father's Day is creeping up and sometimes it can be hard to think of gifts that the kiddies can be involved in. The internet has loads of fun ideas but here are a few things to get you started;

  • Wallet sized 'I Love You because.." - use a piece of cardboard and cut to the size of a credit card. Get you child to draw a picture and write down the reasons why they love Dad (this can be done with younger children by asking them what they love about Dad and you can write it down). Dad can carry this with him as a reminder. You could cover with contact or laminate for durability. A larger picture can be made by attaching a photo of the child, adding the reasons why they love Dad and popping it in to a photo frame.
  • If Dad is a 'tool man', get an old jar or tin and glue on some unused nuts, bolts, screws etc. This can be Dad's bits'n'pieces jar. For something a little extra, you could paint the nuts and bolts Dad's favourite colour.
  • Why not get cooking and bake Dad some treats! Bake his favourite cookies, some fudge, nut brittle or even a batch of Rocky Road. There are some great recipes on our website plus some simple ones for the kiddies to help with in our recipe section of this newsletter.
  • There are lots of cheap craft and card making supplies at discount stores so get the kiddies creating a special card for Dad this year - it will mean much more to him. If you have a good photo of Dad with the kids, that can make a great addition to the front of your card.
  • Make a special crown from cardboard and attach buttons, beads, pasta, whatever takes your fancy. Spray paint the crown gold or silver (add some craft jewels if you would like some bling) and you can crown Dad 'King for the Day'. You could go all out and turn his favourite chair into a throne and make a King's robe from fabric, a sheet or a curtain.
